This painting was Picasso 's gift to the Greek people for their resistance against the Nazists during the WWII. It was stolen from the National Gallery on January 15 2012 along with 2 other paintings, just a week after I took this photo.
Please correct this: Thessaloniki Customs House was designed by architect Alexandre Vallaury from Ottoman Customs Authority. Elie Modiano was the engineer who applied the reinforced concrete project prepared by the French firm Hennebique.Regards,Seda Kula Say
Hi.according to the archives of the Municipality of Thessaloniki the Customs House was designed by H. Olifen and its construction was supervised by Eli Modiano.thank u for your input.
Το κτίριο που ονομάζετε κτίριο Μαλλάχ, κτίσθηκε σε οικόπεδο που αγοράστηκε από τους Αλέξανδρο Καραδήμο, Αριστείδη Σταμούλη και τους αδελφούς Μαλλάχ το 1924. Οι Μαλλάχ πούλησαν το μερίδιό τους στους άλλους δύο ιδιοκτήτες και σε έναν τρίτο και έφυγαν το 1927. Η άδεια ανέγερσης του κτιρίου (από Ζοζέφ Πλεμπέρ και Χασσίδ Φερνάντεζ) έχει εκδοθεί στο όνομα των Καραδήμου και Σταμούλη. Εκεί εγκαταστάθηκε και το μεγάλο πολυόροφο κατάστημα Καραδήμος και Σταμούλης, γνωστό στην αγορά της Θεσσαλονίκης μέχρι την δεκαετία του 1960. Ποτέ το κτίριο αυτό δεν ήταν γνωστό ως κτίριο Μαλλάχ. i take care of them myself...no additional help our tap water is also quite hard, but they manage to survive (i might say that they sometimes even thrive....)
